First Responders Endorse Mark Rooney for Governor’s Council

Lifelong South Boston resident Mark Rooney has received endorsements from three major groups of First Responders in Boston.  The Boston Police Patrolmen’s Association president Michael Leary released a statement urging voters to support Rooney in his run for Governor’s Council.  Boston Professional Fire Fighters Local 718 also weighed in for Rooney, as well as the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts.

Rooney is well known in his work in the South Boston community, pitching in at the South Boston Neighborhood House, and Boston Green Academy, with close to twenty years coaching South Boston Youth soccer, Mark is a member of the Children’s Advocacy network, and has annually participated in the Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital, raising almost $10,000 over the past seven years.

As a candidate for for the Fourth District Governor’s Council Mark supports reforming the bail system to required judges to consider defendant’s prior acts of violence when considering bail to make sentencing commensurate with the crimes committed.  As the father of three children, Mark cares greatly for safety of citizens in the District four communities, and takes serious his role in the advice and consent on the Governor’s nominations and appointments.
