Hub Church “Serve Southie Week” A Huge Success

This past week, Hub Church had their 4th Annual “Serve Southie Week.”  Over the course of the week, dozens of volunteers from Hub Church served alongside Perry Elementary School (painting), Gavin Foundation (cleaning, organizing, BBQ), Paraclete (construction, tutoring, and field trip for kids), and Powers Apartments (BBQ for the residents).  Additionally, Hub Church hosted free movie nights on M St Family Beach and had around 200+ for each movie, which were perfect Southie Summer nights!

Pastor Charlie Dunn describes the intent behind Serve Southie Week–“Since day one, Hub Church’s desire as a church family has been to serve the neighborhood and city in both body and soul by ‘being the church’ rather than just ‘attending church.’ Part of the freedom Jesus has made available to us by faith, is the freedom to serve others in view of how graciously He has first served us! It’s a freedom to give to our community rather than take from it, knowing that in Christ we have been given more than we could ever ask or imagine. Each summer, we set aside one week to partner with volunteer teams for the purpose of serving local organizations that are already making our neighborhood an even better place in which to live, work and play.”
