LINDA DORAN NAMED UNSUNG HEROINE BY MASSACHUSETTS COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN (MCSW) Nominated by Senator Nick Collins

Linda Doran of South Boston was honored as a member of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women’s 2018 class of Unsung Heroines.  State Senator Nick Collins recommended Doran for this recognition because of her dedication to youth in the South Boston community. Doran was honored with 130 other Unsung Heroines for her outstanding contributions to the South Boston Youth Ambassadors in a ceremony on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in the Great Hall at the State House in Boston.

“I am excited the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women selected Linda Doran as a 2018 Unsung Heroine,” said Senator Nick Collins. Her work with the South Boston Youth Ambassadors is critical to the lives of our young people and impacts the entire South Boston neighborhood,” concluded Senator Collins.

Linda Doran was born in South Boston where she continues to live and raise her family. She is an active member of the community who has made many outstanding contributions to South Boston, particularly on the lives of young people. In 2005, she started the South Boston Youth Ambassadors program. The Youth Ambassadors is a nonprofit program run by the South Boston Community Health Center that consists of youth from ages from 12-18. This program partners with adults from the neighborhood to demonstrate that young people care and can be active members in the community. Doran organizes and engages youth in art projects, community service and hurricane relief trips, neighborhood clean-ups and more. Her hard work and dedication has impacted many young lives in South Boston, making her a terrific choice for the 2018 Unsung Heroine Recognition.
