BILLIE JO ROGERS-RYAN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DEDICATION

The BCYF Tynan Community Center Women’s Basketball League was officially dedicated in memory of Billie Jo Rogers-Ryan last week.  The Tynan Staff, as well as Commissioner Allison Baker, felt this would be a way to keep Billie Jo’s memory alive for years to come.

As a young teen, Billie Jo and many of her friends participated in various programs and leagues at the BCYF Tynan.  Billie Jo excelled in basketball as a power point guard, had an amazing shot and was never afraid to take it to the hoop.  Her relentless dedication to the game had her at the Tynan daily, perfecting her fundamental skills.  One of her memorable accomplishments was capturing the Girls 15 & Under BNBL City Wide Championship back in 1985.

Billie Jo passed away on October 10, 2017 after a 4 year courageous battle with Breast Cancer.  She leaves behind her husband Danny, daughter Isabella, mother Donna, father Gary, and brother Gary Jr., as well as many dear friends and relatives.  She will be remembered for the impeccable smile that would light up the room, and her loyalty to family and friends.  Her memory will live on in the South Boston community, especially in the hearts of her husband Danny, and beautiful daughter Isabella.
