The ‘Light Foundation’ Presents – Team Speed of Light Marathon Party at Capo, March 14th

The beginning of March means that spring is on its way and that there are just about six short weeks to the Boston Marathon. One of the great things about this world-famous event is that it gives some of the runners, who work out and train hard in preparation for this grueling athletic challenge, the chance to make a difference in people’s lives by raising money for some very worthy charities. 2018 will be the third year that the ‘Light Foundation’ has secured Boston Marathon Bibs and will have 7 runners competing. The runners will be Megan McCarthy, Caiylin Dell’Orfano, Max martins, Samantha McArdle, Mark Rosenthal, Amanda Gianfelice and Ryan Fortin.

For those who may not be familiar with the Light Foundation, it’s a worthy cause that was established in 2001 by former New England Patriots great Matt Light and his wife Susie. It’s a non-profit organization that exists to give at-risk kids a better chance to live a healthy life by using the great outdoors to learn and to grow. The Light Foundation has developed a 400+ acre area in the state of Ohio for its Chenoweth Trails facility, where it holds its outdoor leadership camp called Camp Vohokase every summer. The Light Foundation gives kids opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have to get outdoors and take on a challenge and to strive for excellence in academic pursuits. Giving back has always been a primary pillar in the Light Foundation’s philosophy to help kids succeed in life.

This year, the Light Foundation will be hosting its fundraising party at Capo Restaurant on West Broadway right here in South Boston on March 14th from 6:30pm – 10: pm and promises to be a great time. It will feature live entertainment, a free Harpoon Beer and KEEL Vodka drink per guest, with excellent food provided and prepared by the top chefs of Capo and will include a raffle. Matt Light himself will be there along with BAA Race director Dave McGillivray who will be celebrating with the guests in attendance and most likely some surprise special attendees.

South Boston Today had the great pleasure of hearing from Matt Light himself. He is looking forward to the event at Capo and couldn’t be more pleased with the super team he gets to work with that helps make the foundation such a big success. Said Matt: “We really appreciate all the effort our team puts in to help the foundation grow. It’s so inspiring to be able to work with our runners as we both try and achieve our goals together. We are psyched to celebrate with them St. Patty’s Day style as this is our first event in South Boston”. Matt went on to say “Our runners donate months and months of training and fundraising to support our mission and we couldn’t be more appreciative. Some of them have run for us before and it’s that dedication to our foundation that we’re trying to honor. And hey, what better way to say thank you than to throw a killer party in Southie”?

The party is the Light Foundation’s way of honoring their dedicated runners who have been working hard all winter training for the Marathon and to help out this wonderful cause. Matt Light and wife Susie have dedicated their time and efforts to helping and reaching out to deserving kids. They work hard at it but consider it a labor of love. The world has many great charities and non-profits that exist to assist others and the Light Foundation is right up there with the best of them as they strive to make the world a better place for young people. They and all who are affiliated with this fantastic organization deserve very special praise.

The party is open to the public and tickets are $50. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event, but it’s suggested that they be ordered in advance online by going to mattlight72.com. And again, the ticket includes a complimentary Harpoon Beer, a free KEEL Vodka drink and great appetizers courtesy of Capo Restaurant. That date and time once again is March 14th 6:30 – 10pm.
