The unveiling of our new and exciting IDEA Lab!

By Kristen Miller, SBCA K0 Teacher

On Thursday, November 8, 2018 South Boston Catholic Academy unveiled the new and exciting IDEA Lab! The IDEA Lab is designed and dedicated in loving remembrance of an actively involved and admired school and community member, Lori Miller. Lori was a familiar face at the school for more than 15 years, as a mother and constant volunteer. Lori’s love for South Boston Catholic Academy was clear in her involvement there.

The IDEA Lab serves as a place for early childhood students at South Boston Catholic Academy to imagine, discover, explore, and achieve in Lori’s memory. The interactive walls serve as a spring board of possibilities. Students are inspired to build and test out ramps on a magnetic wall, explore concepts of color and translucency at a light table, and create towers as tall as they are! The lab provides countless opportunities for students to predict, experiment, and work together in a room full of possibilities!

Friends of Lori’s filled the IDEA Lab on Thursday to celebrate Lori’s legacy and celebrate the opening of a new space where her memory will live on at South Boston Catholic Academy.

We are now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year.  To find what makes South Boston Catholic Academy so special, join us for a tour on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9AM.
