South Boston Catholic Academy News from the Art Room

In the art classroom, South Boston Catholic Academy students have been exploring a wide variety of art mediums. Students from Kindergarten to sixth grade learned different ways to weave using paper or yarn. Sixth grade even used mixed media to create a textured clay slab with yarn weaved into the middle! Some other lessons include symmetrical origami relief’s sculptures, clay tacos and monsters and mixed media paper woven owls. Ms. Valerie Szmurlo, our Art Teacher, believes it is important to explore all the mediums with art so students can find what they are passionate about and see all the possibilities art can bring.        South Boston Catholic Academy’s website (www.SBCatholicAcademy.org).  Please contact:  Mrs. Jamie Brown, our Vice Principal, with any questions at j.brown@sbcatholicacademy.org or phone 617-268-2326 for more information
