St. Peter Academy has a “Soup-er Bowl” of Its Own

By Lisa Gilbert, Principal St Peter Academy

While the New England Patriots were gearing up for the big game last Sunday, the students of St. Peter Academy were busy collecting canned goods to be donated to the food pantry sponsored by St. Peter Church in South Boston.  Students as young as 15 months and all the way through fifth grade brought in cans last week as a schoolwide event entitled Souper Bowl Canned Food Drive.  The culminating day was Friday when students could wear Patriot attire or colors, in lieu of their school uniforms.  All in all, we collected 150 cans of food.  Mrs. Miller’s Kindergarten class led the charge with a total of forty-eight cans. They will be treated to a popsicle party in gratitude for their generosity.  We are proud of our home team, the New England Patriots, for their outstanding Super Bowl win.   As a school, we’re proud of our students and their families who give of their time and treasure.  Indeed, we are all winners when we reach out to those in need.
