There are arguably more people with each passing day questioning if some of this nation’s elected officials actually have the best interest of the American people as their priority.
Are they concerned more about their own personal interests, political agendas or their political party, than they are with the well-being of our country? Are American citizens low on the list of those concerns, if on the list at all? Along the same line of thinking is yet another question-Did he/she really just say that?
Which brings me to one of the top news story of this past week – So many Democrat Party leaders and media pundits coming to the defense of MS-13 gang members.
Most Americans know enough about this gang to understand that these are not good guys. With the MS-13 motto being ‘Rape, Torture and Kill’, it doesn’t leave much room for doubt. But, when President Trump referred to them as ‘animals’ and he made it clear he was speaking about the gang members and not all immigrants, those, who have let their hatred for this president consume every fiber of their bodies, went ballistic.
Here is the exact quote from the president when he did not back down but in fact doubled down on his statement: “When MS-13 comes in, when the other gang members come into our country, I refer to them as animals. And guess what, I always will.”
Good for him, no retreating and it’s refreshing. The press and those politicians knew exactly what he said and meant but chose to distort his comments for what they thought would gain them political points. It backfired. Because Americans know that these gang members are vicious and brutal and really do take pleasure in murder, rape and torture. MS-13 members have beheaded and even torn the hearts out of their victims. Sorry to get so graphic. Just telling it how police have reported it.
And yet, even though these are the facts, Nancy Pelosi said they should never be called animals, because they have “the spark of divinity in them like all human beings”. Chuck Schumer said that “when our great grandparents came to this country they weren’t animals and these people (MS-13) aren’t animals either”. Yes, they really did say that. Can you imagine the nerve of Schumer putting thugs in the same category with our great grandparents? Pelosi and Schumer have descended to new lows that even I thought they weren’t capable of reaching. Are they that desperate for new voters that they cater to and don’t want to offend murderous gang members?
White House Spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders didn’t hold back and said “As far as I’m concerned, the president didn’t go far enough in simply referring to MS-13 as animals” in response to Pelosi and Schumer.
I know I’ve stated this before, and I truly believe that if JFK or Harry S. Truman were ever to return, they would be embarrassed and disgusted at where some of its leaders, high among them Pelosi and Schumer, have taken their party.
In response to the Texas school shooting last week, the question that bears repeating is this: If we protect our airports, sporting events and courthouses with armed guards and metal detectors, why is there so much resistance to doing the same for the nation’s children in their schools?” As former US Marine Colonel Oliver North, who is the new president of the NRA stated, “if it takes 5 metal detectors at a school then we need to put 5 metal detectors in the school”.
Remove the ‘Gun Free Zone’ signs and replace them with trained armed guards. Make schools so called ‘hardened targets’. There are many steps that can be taken to secure school buildings and protect the kids. The money is there as well as the knowhow. Handwringing and pontificating about inanimate objects accomplishes nothing and the news media makes things even worse by making every one of these shooters famous.
